"A woman who couldn't stand her daughter's murder case being unsolved for 7 months makes her move by renting three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri with controversial message written on them. It sparks all sorts of reaction from the townsfolk"

Title: THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI

Year: 2017 Directed By: Martin McDonagh Written By: Martin McDonagh Duration: 1 hour 55 minutes Genre: Drama Starring: Frances McDormand, Sam Rockwell, Woddy Harrelson Language: English Score: 8/10

When I decided to watch this movie, I thought I was in for the kind of movie with slow pace, boring drama with meaningful message. But it was really something I didn't signed up for. The twists and different elements it offers are somehow surprising and leaving you wanting more. It really is not your typical drama movie. And it deserves its nominations and wins at the Oscar.

WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT?

1. THE TWISTS OF THE STORY

It seems to never run out of different kinds of elements to make the story more interesting. Like I said, I wasn't expecting any twist whatsoever in this drama. Turns out, the whole story is richer than I thought. Quite a lot of unexpected things happened throughout the movie. And when you think it's finished, there's always more.

2. THE WAY THE ACTORS POTRAY THE CHARACTERS

There's no doubt about Frances McDormand's acting. She delivers an amazing perfomance potraying a brave, tough, and sensitive woman named Mildred Hayes who lost her daughter. In every way, you will feel what she feels. You will understand why she does what she does and how much she actually suffered. But it's not all about Mildred Hayes, the other supporting characters are also well-written and well-potrayed. You might think they're just there to circle around Mildred's life story, but they turned out to be more important and their life stories are just as interesting. You will want to know more about them and the movie will fulfill your thirst.

3. FEW LOCATIONS BUT SOMEHOW ENOUGH

It really is just around that town and not much else. But you don't get bored. Instead, you start to know more about the town and the people in it. It helps you digest the movie better.

4. ALL SORTS OF EMOTIONS DURING THE MOVIE

This movie provides so many different emotions for you to feel, mostly complicated ones. But you don't have to try hard to feel them because the characters make it so much easier. Just by watching what they do and what they go through, you'll gasp in shock, you'll cry for their sadness, you'll feel sorry for what happens to them. The movie placed every scene in where they should be perfectly to help you understand what happened and why, and how everybody developed throughout the movie.

WHAT'S NOT GOOD ABOUT IT?

1. THE DEER

However touching the scene was, it disturbs me a little because the lovely animal still looks fake (or somehow not in the same place with McDormand). The lighting has a little flaw that makes you can tell it's not in a real outdoor

WHAT'S SO-SO ABOUT IT?

1. SLOW PACE

It is, afterall an Oscar nominated drama, so it's quite inevitable. I've seen some slow-paced movie and most of them do it intentionally because they want to highlight other things in the movie. Most of the times, it ended up being boring. This movie is also quite slow-paced but it doesn't make you feel completely bored because of the awesome storyline. But sometimes, you might get a little bored because of the pace and the lack of music.

2. THE ENDING

Not a terrible ending, but doesn't give enough satisfaction. Some things are still not revealed or answered but I can see that's not how the movie maker wants it to end. There are other messages that the movie wanted to deliver by this kind of ending and that is not bad at all. In terms of how good the message of the movie is, there's no problem. But it just doesn't give me enough satisfaction as an audience who has been following the characters going through everything.

PLOT HOLES

Can't find any at the moment but let me know in the comment section if you do!

For a serious drama movie lover, I recommend this movie for you very much. But for those who don't, I recommend it too because it's not your typical slow-paced drama movie with little twist in it. You'll definitely get more than you expected.

It promised horror, it promised suspense, and man, oh man, does it deliver!  WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT? 1. BRINGING BACK THE CLASSIC ALIEN GENRE Which is horror in a sci-fi setting. Director Fede Álvarez is a major fan of Alien and he knows very well about what makes the film work in the first place. It was scary and tense,...

The Meg

"After escaping an attack by what he claims was a 70-foot shark, Jonas Taylor must confront his fears to save those trapped in a sunken submersible" -IMDb Title:  THE MEG Year:  2018  Directed By:  Jon Turteltaub   Written By:  Dean Georgaris, Jon Hoeber, Eric Hoeber Duration:  1 hour 53 minutes  Genre: Action, Thriller, Monster Movie   Starring:  Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Ruby Rose, Rainn Wilson  Language:  English  Score:  5/ 10 Originally, I don't want to watch this movie. But because this is the only popular one playing in cinemas that I haven't watched, I eventually did watch it. The Meg is somehow enjoyable but stays in that middle area where it's not good enough to be considered a great movie, but has a chance of falling to the bad-movie-area.  WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT? 1. THE SUSPENSE AND JUMPSCARE There is almost no shark movie without suspense and jumpscare. They're like the whole poi...

The language is English but it's from New Zealand, so you'll hear an English accent you don't hear very often. I've heard of the movie and saw the trailer once but I've forgotten about it. I decided to watch it out of curiosity and the awesome reviews it recieved. Also, because it's co-written, co-directed, and co-starred by Taika Waititi a.k.a Thor: Ragnarok director. Well, thankfully it didn't disappoint me at all as I ended up having really great laugh fo...
