Another Spielberg movie, another anticipation, and not dissapointed at all. This movie is based on the novel of the same name by Ernest Cline in 2011. Since the news about this film being made is spread, there has been a lot of anticipation from fans. I personally didn't read the book but the short synopsis is already interesting enough for me.

WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT?

EVERYTHING!

But to be fair, let's break it down.

1. THE STORYLINE

You really won't get bored at all throughout the film. The story gets better and more interesting every time. It's a classic type of storyline, going forward towards the climax. But you will always want to know more and you won't get dissapointed with what Spielberg shows you scene after scene, until the end.

2. THE VISUAL

Perfect visual effects, showing you how virtual reality can be so real and unreal at the same time. Perfect color combination, pleasing to look.

3. GAMERS (AND NON-GAMERS) CAN RELATE

Oasis is a virtual reality where you can collect coins/money to buy upgrades like your avatar's armor and weapons. Sounds familiar? Yup, that's what most games are like these days. Even if you're not a gamer, you still can relate to that. This movie also includes quite a lot of avatars from real games. Not just current games, but older games too. I won't spoil anything but they can make you get excited, and say "hey, I know that one!", which means big chance they're from a game that you play everyday or used to play everyday.
But not to worry, non-gamers, it's not all about games. They also put characters from movies and cartoons from the 80s, 90s, and maybe a little from the 2000s. Not just them in visual, but in dialogues too. That'll get almost everyone in the audience get excited because of nostalgia and surprise.

4. THE MYSTERY

James Halliday is not a real person so you probably don't know anything about him except from the characters explanation. But they're really enough to make you want to know more about the founding father of Oasis. They put the mystery and also ways of solving them in the most interesting and smart ways. It's not so hard that it hurts your brain but it's interesting to make you want to know more.

5. THE MUSIC

Not the most powerful part of the movie, but chosen very well. Suits the movie perfectly and make every scene even better.

6. THE ACTION

Whether it's in the virtual reality, in the real life, or both, they're intense enough to keep your eyes on the screen. The portion of the action is also very balances so it doesn't outdone everything else. It's also not the lame and ridiculous action but a cool and logical one. No spoiler, but the ending action scene is epic.

7. THE COMEDY

Also not the main portion of the movie but enough as an intermezzo between everything else that seems so serious. They're not lame and forced too.

8. THE LOVE STORY

I'd say it's a classic one. You'd almost know from the start what'll happen to them. But I guess, once in a while, especially in a movie which genre is not romance, this kind of love story balances it. It's not lame and it's not too much, it's the right kind of romance in the middle of all the action and mystery-solving. For youngsters, you might even feel like you're looking back at your first moments with your partner.

WHAT'S NOT GOOD ABOUT IT?

I'D SAY, NOTHING

Trust me guys, I'm being fair. But I just can't find any fatal flaws in this movie. Let me know in the comment section if you guys do!

WHAT'S SO-SO ABOUT IT?

1. THE CHARACTERS

This is a kind of movie that you watch because of the storyline and the famous director, not because of the interesting character, as if you're interested to watch "Steve Jobs" because it's about Steve Jobs. But after you watch the movie, you can tell that the characters are good and quite interesting. They're still not the most anticipated characters to watch and they don't have the characteristics as unique as Forrest Gump, but they're good enough to complete the movie. For the villain, I have to give thumbs up. He's a character designed to be hated by everyone in the most logical and not-lame way. So that's one awesome character. But overall, in Bahasa Indonesia, they're "biasa aja"

PLOT HOLES

Actually also can't find any at the moment, but let me know about what you guys think in the comment section!

So there you go, Ready Player One review. Enjoy!

It promised horror, it promised suspense, and man, oh man, does it deliver!  WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT? 1. BRINGING BACK THE CLASSIC ALIEN GENRE Which is horror in a sci-fi setting. Director Fede Álvarez is a major fan of Alien and he knows very well about what makes the film work in the first place. It was scary and tense,...

The Meg

"After escaping an attack by what he claims was a 70-foot shark, Jonas Taylor must confront his fears to save those trapped in a sunken submersible" -IMDb Title:  THE MEG Year:  2018  Directed By:  Jon Turteltaub   Written By:  Dean Georgaris, Jon Hoeber, Eric Hoeber Duration:  1 hour 53 minutes  Genre: Action, Thriller, Monster Movie   Starring:  Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Ruby Rose, Rainn Wilson  Language:  English  Score:  5/ 10 Originally, I don't want to watch this movie. But because this is the only popular one playing in cinemas that I haven't watched, I eventually did watch it. The Meg is somehow enjoyable but stays in that middle area where it's not good enough to be considered a great movie, but has a chance of falling to the bad-movie-area.  WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT? 1. THE SUSPENSE AND JUMPSCARE There is almost no shark movie without suspense and jumpscare. They're like the whole poi...

What We Do In The Shadows

"A few documentary crews were allowed to film a group of ancient vampire's activities for a few months." Title:  WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS Year:  2014  Directed By:  Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement  Written By:  Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement   Duration:  1 hour 26 minutes  Genre:  Mockumentary, Comedy, Horror  Starring:  Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement, Jonny Brugh  Language:  English  Score: 9.5 /10 So, this is quite an underrated indie-comedy. The language is English but it's from New Zealand, so you'll hear an English accent you don't hear very often. I've heard of the movie and saw the trailer once but I've forgotten about it. I decided to watch it out of curiosity and the awesome reviews it recieved. Also, because it's co-written, co-directed, and co-starred by Taika Waititi a.k.a Thor: Ragnarok director. Well, thankfully it didn't disappoint me at all as I ended up having really great laugh fo...
