Title: ANT-MAN AND THE WASP

Year: 2018 Directed By: Peyton Reed Written By: Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers Duration: 1 hour 58 minutes Genre: Superhero, Action, Comedy Starring: Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lily, Michael Douglas Language: English Score: 6.5/10

After Infinity War, everyone is guessing what Ant-Man and the Wasp will be about. The question of where they were during Infinity War is also still lingering. Basically everyone is watching this because this is an MCU movie and it's released after Infinity War. The curiosity leads people to be interested. So does it answer our question? What is this movie like? Let's break it down.

WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT?

1. THE ACTION SEQUENCES

The action is definitely upgraded. In the first movie, we basically see Scott shrink and fight during his ant-size. Now, they shrink and then go back to normal size almost immediately. So it's still punching but they can make more moves by shrinking for a while, and then go big again. It makes the actions sequence so much cooler and more interesting. Not a lot of movie is able to use that "cheat" to make the action scenes look more badass.

2. THE COMEDY

I have to say, the comedy isn't amazing, but it's always there in the air. The atmosphere isn't as serious as Infinity War, but not as goofy as Deadpool. Some jokes are really good, and you can still tolerate the non-laughable ones because it rhymes with the color of the movie.

3. THE WASP = BADASS

Ant-Man finally gets a partner and she's truly awesome. MCU has included quite a lot of females badass characters and this one is another one. She's not that damsel in distress, just a super badass woman with a cool suit that helps her to shrink and also fly.

WHAT'S NOT GOOD ABOUT IT?

1. THE VILLAIN

I not a comic reader so I don't know if the villain is from the comic book or not. Judging from the costume and the name, I'm quite positive it's from the comic book. But I still don't know if she's pictured that way to in the book because for me, she's a little lame. Not the toughest villain you've ever seen, for sure. The acting helps to make her look intimidating but her actual character just... doesn't help that much.

WHAT'S SO-SO ABOUT IT?

1. THE WHOLE STORY

Well, it's definitely not a bad or boring movie, but it's just super OK. The story's just a 5 out of 10, no less, no more. It's entertaining enough to keep you watching. No dragging, no unnecessary subplots, no boredom felt at all. But it's not wow enough to have you super excited. The whole plot seems a little unnecessary after you watch Infinity War, but hey, as long as it doesn't make you yawn, it's not too bad.

2. THE ENDING

I really don't know if it's good or bad, just somewhere between them. I suppose it kind of gives you answer to where he really is in Infinity War, but it still leaves you unsatisfied. For me, it sparks some more questions in my head instead of just answering the previous ones. So I suppose, it's great but not enough.

PLOT HOLES

SPOILER ALERT!

(I'll give you some time to scroll away)

So, about the ending: it was shown that Hope, Hank, and Janet disappeared because of Thanos and Scott is stuck in the quantum realm. I realize this means the movie happens before and during Infinity War. But then why is not shown at all of what happened in New York. I mean, a giant donut-shaped spaceship was seen by so many people there. It's got to reached the news, right? I know Scott and everyone else in the movie here is really busy, but I guess a little connection will make it slightly clearer? or just interesting?
Well I guess, it's just to make the ending more surprising since nobody knows where it belongs in the timeline.

END OF SPOILER

Overall,it's a very enjoyable movie but not good enough to be remembered. If you watch it, you get an OK entertainment for almost 2 hours. If you miss it, you don't lose either.

"While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonists come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe." -IMdB Title: ALIEN: ROMULUS Year:  2024  Directed By:   Fede Álvarez   Written By:  Fede Álvarez, Rodo Sayagues  Duration:  1h 59m  Genre:  Horror, Sci-fi   Starring:  Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, Aileen Wu  Language:  English  Score:  9/ 10 When the teaser trailer first dropped, it was quite clear this Alien film might just be the breath of fresh air that the franchise needs. It promised horror, it promised suspense, and man, oh man, does it deliver!  WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT? 1. BRINGING BACK THE CLASSIC ALIEN GENRE Which is horror in a sci-fi setting. Director Fede Álvarez is a major fan of Alien and he knows very well about what makes the film work in the first place. It was scary and tense,...

The Meg

"After escaping an attack by what he claims was a 70-foot shark, Jonas Taylor must confront his fears to save those trapped in a sunken submersible" -IMDb Title:  THE MEG Year:  2018  Directed By:  Jon Turteltaub   Written By:  Dean Georgaris, Jon Hoeber, Eric Hoeber Duration:  1 hour 53 minutes  Genre: Action, Thriller, Monster Movie   Starring:  Jason Statham, Li Bingbing, Ruby Rose, Rainn Wilson  Language:  English  Score:  5/ 10 Originally, I don't want to watch this movie. But because this is the only popular one playing in cinemas that I haven't watched, I eventually did watch it. The Meg is somehow enjoyable but stays in that middle area where it's not good enough to be considered a great movie, but has a chance of falling to the bad-movie-area.  WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT? 1. THE SUSPENSE AND JUMPSCARE There is almost no shark movie without suspense and jumpscare. They're like the whole poi...

What We Do In The Shadows

"A few documentary crews were allowed to film a group of ancient vampire's activities for a few months." Title:  WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS Year:  2014  Directed By:  Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement  Written By:  Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement   Duration:  1 hour 26 minutes  Genre:  Mockumentary, Comedy, Horror  Starring:  Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement, Jonny Brugh  Language:  English  Score: 9.5 /10 So, this is quite an underrated indie-comedy. The language is English but it's from New Zealand, so you'll hear an English accent you don't hear very often. I've heard of the movie and saw the trailer once but I've forgotten about it. I decided to watch it out of curiosity and the awesome reviews it recieved. Also, because it's co-written, co-directed, and co-starred by Taika Waititi a.k.a Thor: Ragnarok director. Well, thankfully it didn't disappoint me at all as I ended up having really great laugh fo...
