Title: JOHNNY ENGLISH STRIKES AGAIN

Year: 2018 Directed By: David Kerr Written By: William Davies Duration: 1 hour 28 minutes Genre: Comedy, Action Starring: Rowan Atkinson, Olga Kurylenko, Emma Thompson, Jake Lacy, Ben Miller Language: English Score: 5/10

Johnny English Strikes Again! The title explains all. Just when you thought Johnny English isn't getting any more movies, he strikes again. English is still the same guy, that funny, ridiculous spy meant to make you laugh. Oh yes, you will laugh. But will you get more than that? Let's break it down.

WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT?

1. ROWAN ATKINSON

The legendary Mr. Rowan Atkinson or Mr. Bean is back, and he is guaranteed to bring laughter. He's funny and ridiculous as he usually is, being clumsy, distracted, and dancing shamelessly. Whatever the joke is, he can pull it off, cause he has a talent of being super funny.

2. BOUGH IS BACK!

He might not be the most missed characters for many people, but he is to me. His characteristic completed English very much in the first movie that the movie itself won't be as good without him. So, the decision to bring him back is perfect for me. He's still the same guy, with the same way of talking, walking, moving, and communicating with English, just slightly older. In conclusion, he's here to help English bring the fun to you.

3. THE COMEDY

This is a comedy movie, so what's the point of it all without the comedy? I did laugh quite a lot watching this movie, mostly not because the jokes are funny, but because Rowan Atkinson is doing them. I'll talk about it more in the other section, but overall, I did laugh very much. The ridiculousness is just unbearable.

WHAT'S NOT GOOD ABOUT IT?

1. THE VILLAIN

The reveal of who actually did the whole crime in this movie is not fully predictable, but it's not fully shocking too. Well, as an audience, I think you're just in for the laugh, not the mystery or tension. So failing at this part does not entirely ruin the movie. Still, audience will definitely notice that this is just another forgettable, one-dimensional, mainstream, bad villain.

2. SADLY, EMMA THOMPSON'S CHARACTER

It's a bit sad to be disappointed in Emma Thompson :( I blame the character more than I blame her acting, because I mean, this is 2 time Academy Award winner, Emma Thompson. I think her character is too simple, is only there for one thing, and nothing else. She also doesn't seem to act effortlessly like she usually does. Again, it doesn't ruin the whole movie, but it does distract you.

3. UNNECESSARY CHARACTERS

There are a few unnecessary characters in this movie that I think would be better if they're not included at all. Or, at least make their roles more important, or give them more things to do. You might not notice it right away but after you're done watching the movie, you'll realize there are characters that are unnecessary to the plot :/

WHAT'S SO-SO ABOUT IT?

1. THE PLOT

It's way too simple, even simpler than the last two movies. It doesn't bring anything new, it just repeats everything it has done before, even making it less fun. I put it in this section because even so, it's still enjoyable. The simple plot makes it easy for you to pay attention to the jokes and forget the rest.

2. LAZY JOKES

The jokes aren't the funniest. They make you laugh because Rowan Atkinson is doing them. Most of them are just him being ridiculous and clumsy. Yes, a lazy joke, but it's perfect for Rowan Atkinson's portrayal. But if it's not him, this movie is going to flop very badly.

Overall, this is not a masterpiece at all. The movie got the audience's interest because it's a Rowan Atkinson movie - and also maybe because there aren't any other great movies to watch at the time. If you decide to watch it, don't worry, you'll get the fun and laughter. But this isn't something you'll remember or re-watch for the long term.

SHOULD YOU WATCH IT? YES AND NO (NOT WATCHING IT IS NOT REGRETTABLE, BUT WATCHING IT WON'T WASTE YOUR TIME TOO)

Apart from some little flaws, this movie is the most perfect one I've ever watched. Released in 2009, maybe there's not a lot of people today that have heard of this movie. Maybe it's because when people say "Quentin Tarantino", the first...

When I first watched the trailer, I didn't think this will be an amazing movie that will last forever in everyone's mind. Well, my final opinion isn't very different with my expectations, but I like it more than I thought.  WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT IT? 1. CUTENESS OVERLOAD As everyone knows, Poo...

Well, here's my answer: I don't like series. And not just American or British series, every series. Yes, that includes Korean drama. I can't find the fun following people's stories for episodes. Plus, some episodes are bad, some are good, and I can't stand that. There are very few series that I've really watched from the beginning to the end, and I en...
